I learned the shell in wsl before I switched to Linux full time. I wasn’t trying to learn it intentionally. Just didn’t want to develop software on windows. It’s a great gateway drug that reduces friction by a lot.

coconut@programming.devto Privacy@lemmy.ml•Why does Signal want a phone number to register if it's supposedly privacy first?English11·15 天前It doesn’t matter whether a server claims to run free software or not. You can’t verify what it’s running. That’s why E2EE is designed entirely around the client. You can’t trust the server no matter what.
coconut@programming.devto Privacy@lemmy.ml•Why does Signal want a phone number to register if it's supposedly privacy first?English1·15 天前You can’t just write three paragraphs (that contain half-truth, half-misinformation) about how Signal is the middleman and then conclude “you can assume there’s no middleman”. You can’t assume that. Signal is the middleman. There’s no arguments to be made against this. Signal doesn’t claim they aren’t the middleman either.

coconut@programming.devto Technology@lemmy.world•WhatsApp provides no cryptographic management for group messagesEnglish24·20 天前Just use signal is not a valid statement in a world where vast majority of people aren’t using (and won’t use) it. I have been trying to get people to install it and have a total of 6 over several years. They only use it to communicate with me.
coconut@programming.devto Privacy@lemmy.ml•Brave is not a bad browser and nor is Firefox.English191·21 天前People miss the fact that we can tell when one of them make a questionable decision which is what matters the most.
You people are going to hate me for thid but it’s not a privacy concern if they block piracy domains ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
