Not all the world is the US. Luckily.

Scrolloneto Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•It took years of letters, petitions and protests but you guys actually did it. New York's Queensborough Bridge Now Has Separate Paths for Pedestrians and Bicycles! When people fight, they WIN 👏👏👏 English1·20 hours agoNorm Macdonald would be proud of this, he had a friend that worked under that bridge.
I don’t know which country OP is from, but it’s completely legal in many countries. Source
Good luck with that 😂
I don’t think it will ever be possible unless they rewrite huge chunks of the codebase. Many tools require only one layer to be selected.

Scrolloneto Technology@beehaw.org•Bluesky Is Plotting a Total Takeover of the Social Internet4·21 hours agoHave you seen the average person recently? They like to be spoon-fed content in a passive way. Look at Instagram Reels or TikTok.
Mastodon is fine for geeks like us, but the average Joe would find it dead and boring. Bluesky managed to fill that hole left by Twitter.

Scrolloneto Privacy@lemmy.ml•Netflix Puts AI Ads in Paid Tier: Pirate Everything at This Point19·21 hours agoPlex is completely enshittified at this point.
- You need to pay if you want to share your movies with friends
- They spy your watch list, and share what you watched with your friends by sending them emails
- They released a new half broken app
- They removed the “party” option that let you watch a movie together with friends remotely
- They’re actively trying to hide the personal streaming features in order to push people to their legally (and ad-riddled) streamed movies
So Jellyfin is now the best solution afaik
Scrolloneto Privacy@lemmy.ml•Netflix Puts AI Ads in Paid Tier: Pirate Everything at This Point8·21 hours agoAlso, I don’t know how it was in other countries, but I remember that pay-tv services in Italy didn’t have ads during programs and films, but only between the programs. It was a way better experience.
People are downvoting you, but I remember going on porn websites at 9 years old and it was great. I turned out fine, and I’m glad my parents didn’t check my browser history.
You’re partially right, I’d like to add some details: websites can also check if a domain (e.g. example.com) actually exists. So if you smash random letters on your keyboard and you end up with a non-existing domain, a website will be able to stop you from using that address.
More advanced websites also check for an MX record on the domain DNS. If a domain exists but it doesn’t have an MX record, then it’s not going to be able to receive emails and may be blocked in sign up forms.
Edit: not only an MX record, but also an A record, because if no MX record is present, then the mail is sent to the A record as a fallback (even though, in all honesty, I think this is a very uncommon configuration on the modern internet).

Just join as a full EU member, and everything will be easier. Why bothering having your own currency when we can all have the euro?

But it’s super sad that we need to resort to ad blockers to have a decent web experience.
Yeah we need to go back to a curated list of content like back in the days of directories.
