Anything from 6 or so years before your PC fabrication ought to be easy to run at a fast framerate.
Dwarf Fortress was unplayable before they added actual graphics to it
OBJECTION!!
The ASCII graphics have a charm of its own, even if it skews the horizontal-vertical distances due to characters being 8x12
Just cheat at the game. I miss when games bad built-in cheats for these situations when you just couldn’t be arsed

I Cast Fist@programming.devto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How can children be introduced to digital technology and the internet in a playful way? At what age is this appropriate? And how can this be done without exposing children to all the negative aspects?2·12 hours agoBack in mah day, internet time was super limited (dial up). Having a hard restriction on daily internet use, like 2 hours tops, would be a good starting point, in my opinion.
As others mentioned, no phones or tablets, not before 14y. I’d also completely block Roblox, TikTok, Instagram, xitter and Facebook. The kid can learn about those things from friends, but at home those things will be off limits and explained as mind control programs (a bit hyperbolical, but not entirely untrue)
For games, I’d create a small (~10), initial catalogue of curated games and let the kid play. After some months, give old magazines or show some screenshots of older stuff, or let them use their internet time to check for interesting looking titles, and let them choose one or two to add to their collection. If the game sucks, well, too bad, lesson hopefully learned.
Having access to the entire digital world at all times can really mess up our senses of “how much that’s worth”, because there’s just so fucking much everywhere
Beets, on the other hand, are iron rich (but taste horrible in my opinion)
Well, did you learn or did she also threaten to throw sardines at your funeral?

Others mentioned brotato and vampire savior, there are several similar games like them nowadays, you can check their tags to look for more on Steam
Elder Scrolls Morrowind has janky as fuck combat (hidden dice roll to check if you actually hit) and the only way to get better is with higher numbers in your skills and attributes. You can use magic and potions, both of which you can make yourself, to boost yourself to godlike levels
Dynasty Warriors 8 offers several weapons for the characters, plus it lets you equip skills to make some actions better, like higher attack and higher attack while mounted. As soon as you learn how to block for quick camera turns, you’ve mastered the game

That takes six months'English12·14 hours agoFor Palworld, a new island takes 6 months, per the article. Probably talking about Sakurajima and the big southern one. That makes sense, since it’s not just putting stuff there and calling it a day on the first finished thing, some level design has to happen so the place makes sense and doesn’t feel super boring to explore.

I Cast Fist@programming.devto Games@lemmy.world•70% of games that require internet get destroyedEnglish14·2 days agoIn a way, piracy can fix that problem too, since pirate servers existing for ongoing games means they’ll never actually die, unless the server source code gets taken down and nobody archives a copy. I mean, WoW Classic only happened because a private server running vanilla got too big, despite Blizzard bullshit of “You think you want it, but you don’t” and “We don’t have the code to roll back”.
Star Wars Galaxies, Phantasy Star Online, City of Heroes, Warhammer Age of Reckoning all still exist and can be played, despite being “dead”, thanks to private/pirate servers.

The only time the kid did mediate the fight with “Let’s get ready to rumbleeeeeeeeeeee”, a lawyer burst into the house with a lawsuit.
